About CSDG
Since its first performances in 1993, Crispin Spaeth Dance Group has achieved recognition as one of the most innovative and evocative contemporary dance ensembles in the Pacific Northwest.
CSDG creates a new major work every two years in close collaboration with a variety of multidisciplinary artists and organizations. To complement this work, CSDG continuously strengthens its ties to audiences, artists and arts professionals through the creation of shorter works that are shown in cabarets, open rehearsals, and other informal performances.
CSDG has been presented by Western Bridge, Consolidated Works, On the Boards, Bumbershoot, Velocity Dance Center, Seattle's Center on Contemporary Art, Oberlin College in Ohio, Vancouver, B.C.'s Dancing on the Edge Festival, the International Theater Festival in Manta, Ecuador and the Spondylus Festival in Quito, Ecuador, among many others.
As an extension of our commitment to our community and collaboration, we created Mixer, a program area designed to promote reckless invention and dialogue among a vibrant and diverse combination of dance artists. The third incarnation of Mixer was Ten Tiny Dances: a Seattle-Portland Exchange, a producing collaboration with Portland’s Mike Barber in June 2005. We will co-produce this event again in June 2006.
CSDG is a resident company at Open Flight Studio, a collectively managed dance studio in Seattle's University District.
